Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties remain under a flood warning until 7 p.m. Thursday after another round of heavy rain moved through the area. The National Weather Service also added Philadelphia to the warning at 11:50 a.m. Thursday and removed Berks and Lehigh from the warning Thursday afternoon.

The NWS noted the Schuylkill River at Norristown could cause minor flooding in Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. At 10:30 a.m. the NWS said the Schuylkill River was at 14.8 feet and falling. Flood stage is 13 feet.

The Brandywine Creek at Chadds Ford was also forecast to have minor flooding affecting Chester and Delaware counties.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday for Delaware, eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks and Philadelphia counties.

The NWS shows between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain had fallen over the region in the 24 hours ending at 7 a.m. Thursday.

Flooding is possible along creeks and rivers, as well as in poor drainage and urban areas, according to the weather service.

The ground is already saturated after heavy rain resulted in flooding last week. That is increasing the likelihood of additional flooding from the latest rainfall, the weather service said.

While the bulk of the rain from the latest storm has tapered off, more showers are possible Thursday afternoon and evening. There will be a chance of showers again Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service forecast.

Here is the extended weather service forecast:

Thursday: Patchy drizzle with scattered showers after 2 p.m.

“Tonight, chance of showers diminishes, and winds start to increase a bit out of the west, so we may be able to clear out a bit of the low clouds,” the NWS forecast discussion for the region stated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. “That, however, opens the door for more patchy fog development, so clearing might be short-lived if there is any. The temperature won`t move much, but should drop into the low 40s.”

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

New Year’s Day: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.
